How
Many People are Affected with Celiac Sprue ?
Recent Research has concluded that
1 out of
every 150 Americans suffer from Celiac Sprue.
These numbers will be different from country
to country, but they are comparable to the US. Celiac
Sprue is thought not to be prevalent in individuals
of African, Chinese, and Japanese decent. Children
in Italy are routinely tested for Celiac Sprue at the
age of six and this is something other countries
might need to implement. The numbers in the U.S.
could even be greater since many physicians are
still not educated on the full spectrum of symptoms
when diagnosing Celiac Sprue; therefore, they
are ruling out Celiac Sprue as a diagnosis based
on their ignorance of the disease and its symptoms.
